I got the hair extensions!

Sorry I haven't been on forever but you guys should leave me comments so I know you're there! Anyways, I got my feather extensions done. It was 10$ a feather. They were a little skinnier than I thought but are totally cute. Just a note to everybody; if you plan to get feather extensions and have dark hair, go for a light pink and a white or something not dark, that is if you want POP of color. If you want suttle then go for a dark blue or turquoise. I got a dark green/ blue and white and all you can see is the white. Thats ok though it's still sort of noticeable. Check them out. By the way this is really me.

Hope you enjoyed! XOXO Shenae. Check me out on facebook. Shenae Nicole!

I really love love love the ones from hollister, they're so bright and pretty. Style Fail and Weekly Hairstyle!

I try not to be mean when I make my posts, but sometimes there are some style fails that fail. Epicly. So I think this could be the name of a new blog series, kind of like when the beauty girls on say glitter glossip (allthatglitters21) or beauty blabber (juicystar07). So one series will be Style Fail and the other will be weekly hairstyle. I kind of don't like the 'weekly hairstyle' name so if you can come up with a better one please comment and I'll pick yours for my new series. I would have done them seperately but I didn't want to make three whole posts in one day! So starting with my style fails, I will do three pictures each week of people who totally failed at dressing them selves that day.

Those were the style fails, obviously. The hairstyle of the week goes to Taylor Swift :)
Taylor has wavy hair with a side-center part. Her hair is side swept from right to left, and has a headband with a flower on it in a boho girly look. For this look you will need:
4 hair elastics (strong hold preferably),
a fashion headband,
a comb,
a hairdryer, and
leave in conditioner.

To achieve this look follow these steps
1.) Wash your hair and dry 3/4 of the way through the night before. Comb through hair.
2.) Spray leave-in conditioner throughout hair and continue comb through to evenly distribute the product. You can also use a hair putty to give the hair a grip-able surfer texture.
3.) Separate hair into four sections, two in the front and two in the back. braid the back sections like normal, but french or dutch braid the front pieces.
4.) Sleep on a satin or soft pillowcase so your hair doesn't get roughed up.
5.) In the morning make sure your hair is dry, you can poke your finger through the braid but don't undo it yet. If the hair is wet dry the hair with a hairdryer still in a braid. If the hair is dry then undo the braid carefully, be sure not to comb or brush through. By doing so you are destroying the fragile waves you have created.
6.) If your hair doesn't hold curls or waves well, then spray a hairmist or hairspray on the hair to give it hold. Just a tip, don't spray the hair directly with the spray. Hold it about a foot or two away from the head. Scrunch toward the top of your head while spraying to give the roots volume.

7.) When you've created waves you are satisfied with then place a Hair-band like Taylor's to your forehead, right before the roots. You can find Hair-bands like hers at Target, Walmart, Claire's, Icing, Walgreens or any place that sells hair items near you. These are some examples.

Top 5 Sunscreens of Summer 2011!

With Summer starting and everyone rushing to the lake and the beach, you have to choose which sunscreen you need carefully. With my top five sunscreens list provided by the wonderful website: you can read reviews on any product you want but all of the reviews for the sunscreen from this page are copied from   :)
Badger SPF 30 for Face & Body is praised by reviewers for containing certified organic ingredients and for using the mineral zinc oxide to provide adequate UVA/UVB protection. Users say that the formula is very thick and a bit hard to rub in but that a little goes a long way. The sunscreen is safe for all skin types, including sensitive skin and babies, experts say. Some people, however, don't like the herbal scent that comes from the essential oils included in this formula. An unscented version is also available.
Reviewers say active people will appreciate the high level of protection provided by Banana Boat Sport Performance Sunscreen SPF 100. Once applied, reviewers say that it stays put and won't run into the eyes, even with excessive sweat. Although this water-resistant sunscreen lasts longer than other formulas, experts say that it should still be reapplied after heavy sweating or swimming.
Parents of young children and consumers with sensitive skin may be interested in Blue Lizard's Sunscreen. This gentle, fragrance-free product receives excellent reviews. Unlike many other potentially irritating chemical sunscreens, Blue Lizard Sensitive and the identical Blue Lizard Baby formulas contain zinc oxide (10 percent) and titanium dioxide (5 percent), mineral sunscreens that act as a physical barrier against broad-spectrum UVA and UVB rays. Blue Lizard Sunscreen is also water-resistant. However, because this sensitive/baby sunscreen is thicker and creamier in consistency, users say it can take longer to apply.
Neutrogena says this sunscreen will neither run into the eyes nor come off with sweat or towel use. User reviews for Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30 are generally positive, with many praising the lightweight formula that dries to a matte finish. Keep in mind that although Neutrogena calls this product a sunblock, no sunscreen can completely protect you from damaging rays.
Although we found the best reviews for Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, No-Ad Sunblock Lotion SPF 45 gives consumers more sunscreen for their money; Neutrogena costs five times more, ounce for ounce. No-Ad SPF 45 contains avobenzone for protection against broad-spectrum UVA and UVB rays, as well as skin-soothing aloe. It is also labeled "very water resistant," which means that it will maintain its indicated SPF for 80 minutes in the water, unless otherwise rubbed off. Reviewers say the sunscreen isn't greasy and absorbs easily. One drawback: This product contains fragrance, and it may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin.
The best sunscreen is: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30! Winner! Winner!

"Pretty Little Liars" and "The Nine Lives of Chloe King"

So I'm sorry that this doesn't have anything to do with fashion or hairstyles, but I really think I should post this. On June 14, 2011 The new season of pretty little liars premiered. That was the best day ever; I thought that I was going to die without it. After the second season premiere, a new show called, The nine lives of Chloe king premiered. It was awesome. This blog post was basically just to say that you should check out these shows because they are truly entertaining :)

Forever 21 is The best store in the world.

So the other day I went to forever 21 with a group of my friends and we looked around. I was pretty sure I was going to get a skirt but then I saw that they have a makeup section too, so I got some brushes, a blush and highlighter kit, a pretty necklace shaped like the Eiffel tower and an orange skirt. The whole total was only 21 dollars! I was amazed, I love that store sooooo much. I'm pretty sure that I'll be going back soon :) Here are some pictures of what I got:

Mane n' Tail Product Review

Ok so today I was at the store when I remembered I needed conditioner, so I went to the hair isle (my favorite isle by the way) and looked around. I am in love with Aussie products, they smell so good and work really well for my hair...but...just as I reached over to grab some up...It caught my eye. Right now your probably thinking...Shenae, what caught your eye? Well, it was Mane n' tail conditioner! I had heard of it from seventeen and teen vogue magazines but I didn't know they sold it where I was. I looked at the price, 3 dollars! what a great deal. So anyways the whole reason I wanted to make this particular post was because I tested it out. It says that Mane n' tail is supposed to thicken and strengthen hair. It also gives it shine so thats really good for me. It really worked. Theres kind of a good part and a bad part about the smell though. It smelled good, which is the bad-ish part but the good part is that it stays in your hair. When being compared to aussie, Aussie's conditioners smell AMAZING, but they only last until you get out of the shower, so those are the comparison of Aussie and Mane n' Tail. Did I mention that you can use Mane n' tail on HORSES!  Yeah thats what I said, that is waayyy to cool. So for the over all rating out of five stars on five being the best. Mane n' Tail got a 3. It smelled good and left my hair nice, but it was basically just like the other conditioners out there. :) Thanks for reading

Feather Hair Extensions Love em' or Hate em'

I must say ladies, my last blog post almost gave me arthritis. So Hello, today is feather extension day. I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE! Wanna hear an anecdote? Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this. Anyways, I first saw feather extensions in Seventeen Magazine in the June issue. They were so cute, on the cover, Lucy Hale has on earrings that are completely adorable they are neon and feathery. I'm sure you could make them if you wanted but anyways; I saw the feather extensions and the first thought going through my head was, "how much could they possibly cost? They're only little hair thingys" so I searched them on ebay. Ebay had some kits for about 25 dollars, not too bad but I hate buying things online so I waited, then--on facebook--A friend of mine posted that she got some! I was sort of mad sort of sad because I wanted to be the first on with feather extensions. So I asked her where she got them done. She said that she got the feathers done in a local salon. I was surprised! Being that I only had just heard about feather extensions, I had no idea they did them in salons! I quickly googled my local salons website and clicked on contact us. Most likely your salons website will have one of those buttons too, so then I emailed them asking if they did feather extensions. Mind you that my salon wasn't the same one that my friend went to so I had to ask. So I sent the email and right a way the very next day I checked and they responded saying that they did have them. Yay! I was practically jumping up and down. I almost picked up my cat Bo and threw him into a wall (no just kidding I would never do that to fluffy Bo) hehe anyways Its been two days since then so obviously I don't have the extensions. I'm hoping that I can save up enough to get some though. There. That was my really long anecdote, which sort of cancels out because anecdote means short story and this was long. Duh Earth to Shenae your readers don't care. Haha. Here are the pro's and con's of hair feathers...
Pros :) If they're real hair, then you can apply heat products. Still apply low heat settings on your flat iron or curling iron though. Another pro would be that they are totally in, totally trendy, and will most likely stay in style for another couple years or so. The last pro I can think of is that you can also get them done in salons so...yay!
Selena Gomez
Cons :( Depending on where you get them, they can last for about two to six months. Also If you don't use a heat product, they may last even longer. (just an educated guess though) However the cost if you get them done in a salon could range from 5 dollars a feather to 20 dollars a feather. Here are some pictures of celebrities wearing Feather Extensions:

First Blog Celebration!

Hey, I'm a first time blogger, looked like fun so I thought I should try. My name is Shenae and I love hair. I'm sort of obsessive with it. I like to be wierd and quirky, thats just me. I love spending hours on youtube just watching the hair tutorials and makeup tutorials. Now that you know a bit about me, I'll tell you why I'm  here. Living in a small town in Michigan, you would never ever think a girl like me would want to grow up and live in New York City, but guess what? I do. My dream is to be a magazine editor for Seventeen Magazine, or Teen Vogue. Maybe even the little gossip ones like J-14 or Popstar! The weird part is that I also am in love with the ocean. The whole surfer vibe is me too. How does a shopping fashion New York city girl mix with California Carolina Vibe? I seriously don't know. Thats how I'm quirky and unique. Did I mention that I also want to be a writer? I am in love with reading the books like "LA Candy--Lauren Conrad" or "The Clique" books by Lisi Harrison. Pretty cool huh? Since this is such a huge blog at the moment I will stop here and make another blog about what I really came to blogspot for. Fashion and Beauty. Smiley Faces for now
XOXO :) Shenae
Ps. Please leave comments on what you think my ending name credits thing should be. You know like the thing where some girls at the end of their blogs say: XOXO Blair~ Blair Fowler~ all time fave of mine :) any who tell me whatcha think :) bye
