Best Looks of the 2011 VMA awards on MTV! :)

:) hehe. Today I'm going to put out the best video music award's looks of 2011! I'm really excited because almost everyone there looked stunning, but it was the following people and their pictures that really stood out to me. I'll be saving my favorite for last but let's start with the least of the best and work our way up. First I'm going to start with Miley Cyrus...

As you can see it's a gorgeous floor length gown that has a strange animal, floral pattern. Her hair is out of her face and in a pretty bun. As for makeup it looks like a minor smokey eye, black liner, and nude pink lips. Next we will move onto...Guess who!

Yes, Nicki Minaj came to the MTV video music awards looking like a tokyo toystore blew up all over her...for real. I love the Barbz but come on really? Onto our almost last but not quite look of the VMA we have...

Demi Lovato! I really hope she's doing alright after rehab and a totally bad year so far. She seems good with her gorgeous dress, perfect curls, and sparkling makeup. She's even got a way hot date to match!

Now here's my very favorite look of the night. I don't talk about her much, but I think she is a gorgeous woman. And I am so happy for what's going on in the picture below. 

Beyonce! Did you hear she's pregnant?! I'm so happy for her and Jay-z! I love the one shoulder dress. Also her hair looks fashionable but not too crazy for a (now) mother :) I wish all the people that read my blog post today the best and I hope you come back and read my next posts. Eclectic Key Bracelet or Necklace

Hey everyone! With school staring back up, it's good to have a dorm or house key on hand. A good way not to lose it is to put it on a key chain. Blah, blah, blah. Did you know that you can paint your house key with nail polish and it still fits in the lock! Yeah, I did it last year and it was blue with glitter. This year I wanted to do something different. So, like it was a fingernail, I took the nail polish off with nail polish remover, and repainted it purple with sparkle. I'm a sucker for glitter and shine, hehe. I'd had my key in my bag for about a week when I realized, this isn't working, I'm still losing my key around in my bag. That's when I realized that I should make it into a necklace/bracelet! I found a loose stringy thing that holds silly bands and slid my key on. I held it up but it didn't seem finished yet so I added some feathers, and part of a woven bracelet I made to make the Necklace/bracelet boho. (By the way, if you don't want to wear you're creation,or you can't find a good necklace chain, you can use a piece of string and tie it to your bag, backpack, or whatever you use.) The things you'll need to make the eclectic key necklace/bracelet...
1. chain or string or anything really.
2. feathers of any length and color. If you want boho, go for browns and earthy tones. If you want fun, crazy, or flirty, try the bright and pastels. I picked the latter choice.
3. Micro Links, not the ones for your hair. Micro links hold the feathers together. Some of them have holes at the top to slide on the key necklace but mine didn't fit so I put a string through it and tied it to the key necklace.
4. Small charms/accessories
5. Your key!
To color your key you'll need...
1. Nail polish any color,
2. If you're under 14, get permission. Sometimes if you paint the key it won't go back in the slot, or worse, you'll get paint chips in  the lock and your parents will yell at you. That hasn't happened  to me, but if you don't want to risk it, then I suggest just painting the top part of the key, (I'm referring to the part that doesn't go in the slot, if you were confused).                                                                  
3. A good top coat that won't chip. Because you don't want bad things to happen.
And Voila! You're set for life.

There you go! I know this was a random post but I was redoing my key and was like, "Oh my gosh! I should totally take pic's and blog about this!" so now I'm here having a flashback with you. Ok weird I know.

Hello world,

       I was at the mall yesterday and I noticed that whatever store I went to, I couldn't get away from the animalsfaceonashirttrend. Yes, you read that right, animals-face-on-a-shirt-trend. Thats what I call it. They look a little like this--

Not the girl obiously, but the shirt! I don't know if it's just me but I've noticed them alot and, I don't know what to think of it. It looks cute, but at the same time it looks creepy. Kind of like the animal will hypnotize you into wearing the shirt while its hanging in your closet--or folded out in your drawer--staring at you. Have any of you seen the paint commercial where the girl is trying to paint her house but she see's her boyfriend staring at a painting on the wall of Neptune. The guy is like "it speaks to me" and then you hear the wall say, "don't paint me" then the girl paints over it and is like, "nope its gotta go". Thats what I feel like will happen when I buy this shirt. Ok fine I'm just kidding that wouldn't happen,  but my point is that I see the shirts every where and no one has started a trend with them yet!  Here's some more...

Sometimes a High Messy Bun isn't so bad!

Hi everyone! It has been scorching hot where I live lately and I noticed that with all my hair, my head gets hot, so I decided to sport the high messy bun. If you don't know what a high messy bun is, it's basically just a bun high on top of your head. As I type this post I am wearing a top knot. It looks sort of awkward if you don't know how to wear it because sometimes a little piece sticks up. But hey, what did they create bobby pins for?!

As you can see, there are pieces sticking up and the top knot looks terrible...

As you can see for this picture the bun has very small good looking pieces out. In the first picture the pieces sticking up were thick and long. But for this picture they are thin short and give the bun character.  Also if you want even more texture, flip your hair over, braid down with your hair. Use an elastic to tie it off, then flip your head back to normal and spin the braid into a top knot, It will look bumpy but that gives it the "knot",  also I've found that those stay together better then the messy textured buns. I hope I helped!

Early July Favorites... :)

So I know I haven't posted in a while but I decided I should do something, so I'm making a favorites blog. My first favorite of the month has been:
1. Aussie Leave-in Conditioner. Its amazing! What you do is you, use it right after you wash your hair. It's best to use when you come right out, spritz about 5-9 squirts onto your hair depending on how much hair you have and use a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product. :) My second favorite of the month is:
2. Poppy by Coach Eau De Parfum. I don't actually own the perfume, but I smelled it in the catalogue and it smelled AMAZING! Its about 60.00$ for a 1.7 oz bottle and about 80.00$ for a 3.4 oz bottle, so its a little pricey but I bet if you go to your local Sephora or Ulta they might have samples. Or, you could even shop around for a knockoff. Compare the two! You might be surprised how much alike the perfumes smell. No one would even know. My third favorite is:
3. Colorblock tiger stiped nails inspired by Macbarbie07 on Youtube! She's so awesome everyone should go check her out. I did my little take on it  with three shades of pink so here it is! If you want to know how to do this comment below and I'll make my next post about it.

I got the hair extensions!

Sorry I haven't been on forever but you guys should leave me comments so I know you're there! Anyways, I got my feather extensions done. It was 10$ a feather. They were a little skinnier than I thought but are totally cute. Just a note to everybody; if you plan to get feather extensions and have dark hair, go for a light pink and a white or something not dark, that is if you want POP of color. If you want suttle then go for a dark blue or turquoise. I got a dark green/ blue and white and all you can see is the white. Thats ok though it's still sort of noticeable. Check them out. Style Fail and Weekly Hairstyle!

        I try not to be mean when I make my posts, but sometimes there are some style fails that fail. Epicly. So I think this could be the name of a new blog series, kind of like when the beauty girls on youtube.com say glitter glossip (allthatglitters21) or beauty blabber (juicystar07). So one series will be Style Fail and the other will be weekly hairstyle. I kind of don't like the 'weekly hairstyle' name so if you can come up with a better one please comment and I'll pick yours for my new series. I would have done them seperately but I didn't want to make three whole posts in one day! So starting with my style fails, I will do three pictures each week of people who totally failed at dressing them selves that day.

                

  Those were the style fails, obviously. The hairstyle of the week goes to Taylor Swift :)

Taylor has wavy hair with a side-center part. Her hair is side swept from right to left, and has a headband with a flower on it in a boho girly look. For this look you will need:

4 hair elastics (strong hold preferably),

a fashion headband,

a comb,

a hairdryer, and

leave in conditioner.

 To achieve this look follow these steps

1.) Wash your hair and dry 3/4 of the way through the night before. Comb through hair.

2.) Spray leave-in conditioner throughout hair and continue comb through to evenly distribute the product. You can also use a hair putty to give the hair a grip-able surfer texture.

3.) Separate hair into four sections, two in the front and two in the back. braid the back sections like normal, but french or dutch braid the front pieces. 

4.) Sleep on a satin or soft pillowcase so your hair doesn't get roughed up.

5.) In the morning make sure your hair is dry, you can poke your finger through the braid but don't undo it yet. If the hair is wet dry the hair with a hairdryer still in a braid. If the hair is dry then undo the braid carefully, be sure not to comb or brush through. By doing so you are destroying the fragile waves you have created. 

6.) If your hair doesn't hold curls or waves well, then spray a hairmist or hairspray on the hair to give it hold. Just a tip, don't spray the hair directly with the spray. Hold it about a foot or two away from the head. Scrunch toward the top of your head while spraying to give the roots volume.

7.) When you've created waves you are satisfied with then place a Hair-band like Taylor's to your forehead, right before the roots. You can find Hair-bands like hers at Target, Walmart, Claire's, Icing, Walgreens or any place that sells hair items near you. These are some examples.

Forever 21 is The best store in the world.

So the other day I went to forever 21 with a group of my friends and we looked around. I was pretty sure I was going to get a skirt but then I saw that they have a makeup section too, so I got some brushes, a blush and highlighter kit, a pretty necklace shaped like the Eiffel tower and an orange skirt. The whole total was only 21 dollars! I was amazed, I love that store sooooo much. I'm pretty sure that I'll be going back soon :) Here are some pictures of what I got:

Mane n' Tail Product Review

Ok so today I was at the store when I remembered I needed conditioner, so I went to the hair isle (my favorite isle by the way) and looked around. I am in love with Aussie products, they smell so good and work really well for my hair...but...just as I reached over to grab some up...It caught my eye. Right now your probably thinking...Shenae, what caught your eye? Well, it was Mane n' tail conditioner! I had heard of it from seventeen and teen vogue magazines but I didn't know they sold it where I was. I looked at the price, 3 dollars! what a great deal. So anyways the whole reason I wanted to make this particular post was because I tested it out. It says that Mane n' tail is supposed to thicken and strengthen hair. It also gives it shine so thats really good for me. It really worked. Theres kind of a good part and a bad part about the smell though. It smelled good, which is the bad-ish part but the good part is that it stays in your hair. When being compared to aussie, Aussie's conditioners smell AMAZING, but they only last until you get out of the shower, so those are the comparison of Aussie and Mane n' Tail. Did I mention that you can use Mane n' tail on HORSES!  Yeah thats what I said, that is waayyy to cool. So for the over all rating out of five stars on five being the best. Mane n' Tail got a 3. It smelled good and left my hair nice, but it was basically just like the other conditioners out there. :) Thanks for reading

First Blog Celebration!

Hey, I'm a first time blogger, looked like fun so I thought I should try. My name is Shenae and I love hair. I'm sort of obsessive with it. I like to be wierd and quirky, thats just me. I love spending hours on youtube just watching the hair tutorials and makeup tutorials. Now that you know a bit about me, I'll tell you why I'm  here. Living in a small town in Michigan, you would never ever think a girl like me would want to grow up and live in New York City, but guess what? I do. My dream is to be a magazine editor for Seventeen Magazine, or Teen Vogue. Maybe even the little gossip ones like J-14 or Popstar! The weird part is that I also am in love with the ocean. The whole surfer vibe is me too. How does a shopping fashion New York city girl mix with California Carolina Vibe? I seriously don't know. Thats how I'm quirky and unique. Did I mention that I also want to be a writer? I am in love with reading the books like "LA Candy--Lauren Conrad" or "The Clique" books by Lisi Harrison. Pretty cool huh? Since this is such a huge blog at the moment I will stop here and make another blog about what I really came to blogspot for. Fashion and Beauty. Smiley Faces for now
