Ways to Style a Bow!

Hi, I've just been a blogaholic lately; posting all over the place.  Well, at least they're somewhat good! I am so excited because I finally got my new Seventeen Magazine in the mail two days ago with Ashley Benson on the cover!! Yay! I love pretty little liars. But as I was flipping through the pages to get to the Ashley Benson interview...BAM! I was hit with a wonderful page that looks like this...

Even though I have a camera, I decided to use the webcam for this picture, not only because it's built into my laptop, but because it might be against the law to show people--who didn't pay for the magazine--the magazine. But as you can see, it's a hairstyle page. Not only a hairstyle page, but the hairstyle page, that shows 7 days of hairstyles. It's my favorite part in the whole magazine! What a long intro of jabber! Here's the first style...

A definite classic of straight hair, with fringe, and the bow shoved behind the ear to create a flattering, bohemian/ girly effect.

The next style is...

I would have done more different types of braids, but I'm pretty sure that most of you know that you can do the
1. Normal Braid
2. Fishtail
3. 4 strand
4. 5 strand
5. If you want to count a topknot because it's a braid then there's another!
The next style is something you could wear anywhere and It can be dressed up, down, sideways...totally kidding. Drum roll please. Da dadada!

Yep, that's right. A ponytail. A ponytail with character, dignity, VOLUME! POOF! You can make the illusion of teased hair by pushing the headband down and forward. If you do decide to push the headband forward, start the headband a little farther back than you normally would, that way when you push it forward you wont push it too far.

                If you have fringe or side bangs like me then I suggest proportioning your bow the way you think it looks best, and for most that would be on the side of your head that your bangs are on.

Lady Gaga Inspired Bow

Halo (Germany), Bonjour (France), Hola (Spain or Mexico)! Or if your american like me, Hello! As you probably read by the title, I'm doing a Gaga inspired hair bow. If you do not know what that is then here is a picture of Lady gaga sporting the Bow.

                                                                                                 Hopefully all my awesome worldwide followers know who Lady Gaga is, but just in case you don't, Lady Gaga is a singer, songwriter and a partial actress. She is a little bit quirky but has an amazing voice. Some of her songs are a little bit PG 13 but hey, that's why we love Gaga. For more info on Gaga go here =>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga

Anyways here's my take on the lady gaga bow look...

As you can see, my bow is all of my hair combined into one piece. If you'd like to achieve this look, please follow the steps below.

Things you will need...

1. Lots of bobby pins, clips, barettes.

2. One pony tail. Aka hair tie/band

3. Hairspray

4. Headband (optional) also any accessories you would like. :)

Step 1. Flip hair over and make a very High Ponytail.

Step 2. Split hair into two sections, but leave a small amount of hair in the middle for the middle of your bow. This will come in hand later.

Step 3. Twist right end of hair into a loop. Kind of hard to explain, but if you watch the video by foxy locks she sort of explains it.

Step 4. Secure with as many bobby pins it takes to hold really well. I used only one because I thought it would hold but about an hour later it fell out. So definitely use at least two.

Step 5. Repeat on other side.

Step 6. Take the middle piece of hair and wrap it back to create the knot of the bow effect. If there's too much hair and it looks funny, I recommend wrapping it under one of the bows extremely carefully. 

Step 7. If you have short hair, this could be your final step. Just be sure to use hairspray. And lots of it.

If you have long hair like foxy locks and I, Move along to step 8

Step 8. With long hair, your bow will look droopy and wilted. To fix this push bow up and forward and bobby pin some more. Like I said before. Use A TON, of hairspray. In this project its your best friend.

Feather Hair Extensions Love em' or Hate em'

I must say ladies, my last blog post almost gave me arthritis. So Hello, today is feather extension day. I AM ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE! Wanna hear an anecdote? Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this. Anyways, I first saw feather extensions in Seventeen Magazine in the June issue. They were so cute, on the cover, Lucy Hale has on earrings that are completely adorable they are neon and feathery. I'm sure you could make them if you wanted but anyways; I saw the feather extensions and the first thought going through my head was, "how much could they possibly cost? They're only little hair thingys" so I searched them on ebay. Ebay had some kits for about 25 dollars, not too bad but I hate buying things online so I waited, then--on facebook--A friend of mine posted that she got some! I was sort of mad sort of sad because I wanted to be the first on with feather extensions. So I asked her where she got them done. She said that she got the feathers done in a local salon. I was surprised! Being that I only had just heard about feather extensions, I had no idea they did them in salons! I quickly googled my local salons website and clicked on contact us. Most likely your salons website will have one of those buttons too, so then I emailed them asking if they did feather extensions. Mind you that my salon wasn't the same one that my friend went to so I had to ask. So I sent the email and right a way the very next day I checked and they responded saying that they did have them. Yay! I was practically jumping up and down. I almost picked up my cat Bo and threw him into a wall (no just kidding I would never do that to fluffy Bo) hehe anyways Its been two days since then so obviously I don't have the extensions. I'm hoping that I can save up enough to get some though. There. That was my really long anecdote, which sort of cancels out because anecdote means short story and this was long. Duh Earth to Shenae your readers don't care. Haha. Here are the pro's and con's of hair feathers...
Pros :) If they're real hair, then you can apply heat products. Still apply low heat settings on your flat iron or curling iron though. Another pro would be that they are totally in, totally trendy, and will most likely stay in style for another couple years or so. The last pro I can think of is that you can also get them done in salons so...yay!

Cons :( Depending on where you get them, they can last for about two to six months. Also If you don't use a heat product, they may last even longer. (just an educated guess though) However the cost if you get them done in a salon could range from 5 dollars a feather to 20 dollars a feather.
